Canterbury X-Country

Yesterday this amazing team of athletes competed in the Canterbury X-Country Finals. It was a perfect day for running and our team turned up a bundle of nerves but rearing to go. Every event has 120 children in it from all over Canterbury and the West Coast. Our runners performed well in their events and have done their school and their zone proud. Henrietta was a reserve and unfortunately nobody in her team was away so she didn't get to run. Below are the results:

Year 5 Girls:
Lucy E - 24th
Eve - 69th
Lexie - 81st

Year 5 Boys:
Josh - 10th
Finn - 17th
Riley L - 75th

Year 6 Girls:
Lucy H - 10th
Lucy R - 56th
Sydney - 68th

Year 6 Boys:
Fintan - 94th
Tatsumi - 110th
Hapene - 114th

Lucy H and Josh's performances were outstanding. Having placed in the top 10, both runners are invited to compete in the inter-regional x-country event held in Wellington in September. This is a massive achievement. We haven't had a St Albans runner place in the top 10 in 6 years. Congratulations Lucy and Josh. Also a notable effort was Finn. Placing anywhere inside the top 20 is also a huge achievement. Great effort Finn.
