Return to sport term 3

The current information from Primary Sport Canterbury is they are putting together a revised sports event calendar for term 3.

This will be  a later and shorter season of Winter weekly sport,  date to be confirmed. Trials will be held for netball,  football,  hockey and Rip Rugby in term 3.

Rugby Fun Day - This will still go ahead in Aug or September giving us plenty of time for our team to prepare.

Winter Tournament -  This being a later date than usual but on the calendar. Date to be confirmed.

Sport Update and Covid 19 2020

I hope your return to Term 2 has been as smooth as possible given the new online nature.

Given the Prime Minister's announcement on Monday 20 April and the move to Alert Level 3 on Tuesday 28 April, we have reviewed this in line with guidance from the Ministry of Health and Sport NZ.  At this Alert Level, we will still not be able to run any sporting events for Primary Schools.

However, we are busy working with the board and the Management Committee to plan for resumption of events when we move to Level 2 and Level 1. Once we have more guidance from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Sport NZ on when and what these Alert Levels will look like, we will provide more details for you.

In the meantime, keep safe and look after yourselves and our tamariki.

Fantastic day yesterday at Jellie park our St Albans North Zone Swimmers had a blast!!
We are super proud of their great sportsmanship, participation, and the efforts made to get that far.

Please encourage your child to wear their house colours. If you are coming to watch, please be seated in the two bays in the stand closest to the Port Hills. You will need to be there in plenty of time and will need to keep clear of the entrance to English Park as this is part of the course. The best place to watch is in the stands at English Park.

Basketball 2020

Trials for this years Basketball team will be held at the end of term 1. An email will be sent home if your child makes the team with the cost and details.

Games will start Term 2 on the 7th May for 6 weeks and restart again Term 3 on the 23rd July for  6 weeks. 

Games are played weekly at Bishopdale YMCA Recreation Centre (13a Bishopdale Court)  Draws will be emailed to parents each week.

It is an out of school activity so it's important you can take your child to the games each week and commit.

Times of games can be held anytime between 3.30pm - 8pm on either a Thursday or Friday.

Things to ask your children before they trial:

Can they commit after school between 3.30pm - 8pm to Thursday or Friday games.

Are they doing another sport eg Rugby (other practices to go to)

Do they have Oscar or MASH on that day of Basketball.

Can their parents support and take them to games outside of school hours.

Are mum or dad maybe available to coach/ help !! 😁
