NORTH ZONE WINTER TOURNAMENT 2019
TUESDAY 2ND JULY 10-1PM PP: 7TH AUGUST 9AM -1PM
The North Zone Winter Tournament is held at Hagley Park and is an event run by schools from the North Zone. Our weekly winter sports teams participate, it's a one off event where the teams play short games against other schools from the North Zone. The school team who wins each sport goes through to the CanterburyWinter Tournament held in term 3.
Rugby, Netball will be played at South Hagley. Football will be played at Carlton Corner (North Hagley) and Hockey will be played at Hospital Corner (South Hagley).

Information
- 6 a-side mixed teams (minimum of 2 girls on the field at any one time)
- Games to be played on a half pitch
- 2 forwards, 2 halves, 2 backs (NO Kicking backs or goalies)
- Briefing at 9:50am
- Teams to be warmed up for first game ready at 9.55am
- Game one begins at 10am
- A bell will signal the beginning, and end of ALL games’
- PLEASE PLAY TO THE BELL AT ALL TIMES
Semi Finals and Finals
Year 5&6
- Semi finals at 11.50pm
- Year 7 and 8 straight final at 12:15pm
All players must wear a mouth guard and shin pads - NO GEAR. NO GAME
Each team to provide:
- own hockey sticks
- 5 cones
- hockey ball
- first aid kit
EACH TEAM MUST ALSO PROVIDE A COMPETENT REFEREE
WITH A WHISTLE AND PEN.

- Scores to be recorded on scorecards provided.
- At the end of every game Referees must hand these to the co-ordinator please.
- Teams should not use any subs during the game unless there is an injury.
- There is no time allowance for injuries.

- Foul play or verbal abuse will not be tolerated and players or supporters may be sent from the field for the remainder of the game.

Organisation
- Meet between Grounds 6 & 7 (refer map).
- 10-a-side.
- Mouth guards are compulsory – no mouth guard, no play!
- Games will be 20 minutes in length ta allow time all games to be played. All games will commence and finish on the bell. There will be no bell for half time. You are to make your own arrangements regarding swapping ends if you choose to have a half time.
- There is a 10 minute break between games
- Rules are the same as stated in CPSSA handbook. Please ensure your team coach/supervisor is familiar with these.
- You need to supply your own first-aid kit.
- As a minimum, referees must hold a Rugby Smart certificate. Refereeing is by mutual consent. You may wish to referee half a game each.

- There are no Finals. The teams with the most points at the end of Round Robin play will be the winners. If teams are tied on points – the team which scored the most tries will be the winner.
- At the end of the scheduled games please feel free to organise friendly matches.

North Zone Winter Tournament: Football
Tuesday 2 July, Carlton Corner, 10am-1pm
Briefing 10am
PLAYERS: Teams may be mixed. There is no requirement regarding the number of any one gender.
Unlimited squads, of which 5 shall play at any one time. Rolling substitutions (let the referee know).
EQUIPMENT:
-Size 4 ball.
-Shinpads are compulsory.
-Players are strongly advised to wear mouthguards.
-Goals: Senior football - Each school shall provide one set of goal posts/poles (1.8 metres).
It is the schools responsibility to bring these to the tournament and set up. Goals shall be 3 metres wide.
Each school shall be responsible for the supply and set up of cones (enough for 1 field).
UNIFORM: Players not involved in the game must wear a top or jersey over their team shirt so as
not to confuse teams on the field or the referee.
FIELD SIZE: All games are played either on: -A junior field played across each half, 2 pitches
(see diagram below). -An intermediate field divided into 4 pitches or -
A senior field divided into 6 pitches. 5 aside pitches should be marked out in three thirds,
by cones on the outside of the sidelines.
RESULTS: If teams are tied for places in pool play, a score differential will decide places,
i.e. the difference between total goals scored and total goals scored conceded.
A positive number is obtained if the teams scored more than has scored against them, and a negative
number if there are more scored against the teams than what they score.

RULES: All the normal rules of football shall apply except for the following:
1. No offside

North Zone Winter Tournament Netball Draws and Info
NOTES: WINTER TOURNAMENT rules in Primary Sport Directory. Remember:
All games are 5 minutes each way with NO half-time break. Half time is a quick change of ends.
Teams will be penalised with a loss by default if they are perceived to be time wasting.
There is to be no extension of time for each 5 minute half (including rugby – no completion of phases
of play can occur as time does not allow this).

Players:

3. 6 players on court at any one time: 2 x centres, 2 x defence, 2 x attack (the bibs shall have A, C and D).

Centre Pass:
1. Team captains use paper, scissors, rock to determine which team has the first pass. 2.
After a goal is scored the non scoring team shall have the centre pass.
